Telecia Cooke
OTR/L, CSCM, RCFE Administrator
One of Telecia’s fondest memories as a young teenager is assisting her mother in her grandfather’s care, who had Alzheimer’s disease. Her God-given mission and passion for the elderly began in those early years.
In 1990, Telecia graduated from Loma Linda University as a licensed Occupational Therapist. For over 25 years, she’s worked as an OT in various settings in Northern and Southern California. A few of the organizations were Cedar Sini Medical Center, Parkview Community Hospital, Brockton Physical Therapy, Orthopedic Medical Group, John Muir Medical Center, and Golden State Rehabilitation Hospital.
In 2002, Telecia decided to continue her career in geriatric health and opened Copper Canyon Senior Care.
As the Administrator and Certified Senior Care Manager of Copper Canyon Senior Care, she is the primary point of contact for residents, families, and staff. She oversees the direction of care with the residents, trains and supervises staff, communicates with doctors on behalf of the residents, interfaces with family members, and oversees the care home’s day-to-day operation alongside a humble and dedicated team.
Telecia believes that taking good care of people is both an art and a calling. Her philosophy of care is that getting to know the individual apart from their disability, injury, or disease is paramount for care providers assisting with the day to day activities of the elderly.
This is why, for the past 18 years, she has worked to create an environment at Copper Canyon Senior Care where the residents are not reduced to “Room 10, Bed B.” Everyone has a name, a story, a life lived, and life still to live in new ways as they age.
